About me: Art was always my favourite subject at school but it was not until after a career in Interior Design and my children had grown that I was able to develop my painting and drawing and study the History of Art.
About my work:
I have regularly used oil paints on canvas for my landscapes for many years, and more recently I have been experimenting with pastels, watercolour paints and crayons , acrylics and mixed media to express myself through landscapes and abstract forms.
About my inspiration: I have been fortunate to travel extensively throughout my adult life and I find inspiration in wide open spaces, mountains and urban areas. Colours, atmospheres, cultures and peoples of many of the places I have visited offer so many ideas.
I am also inspired by the countryside and coastline of the British Isles where the endlessly changing weather patterns create interesting moods.
I usually make a series of small sketches in a sketch book I carry with me everywhere and make notes before applying any paint to canvas or paper in my studio. I alter the composition or change colours as I progress where appropriate hoping to create an interesting result.
My husband and I share a love of wildlife and this is another endless source of inspiration for me.
Exhibitions: Previously exhibited at Lauderdale house in Highgate, Burgh House in Hampstead, Hornsea Library and also Florida U.S.A,
