About Gail
Clay as Canvas. Blurring the lines between art and craft. Selected member of The Craft Potters Association.
Drawings from my sketchbooks filled with observations of life, friends, family, art museums and galleries. Themes; musicians, masks, at the cafe, at the beach and at the Met. I create on a ceramic canvases, telling stories and blurring the lines between fine art and clay craft.
The porcelain and stoneware clays etched into and drawn lines are filled with underglaze colours, then they are high fired in an electric kiln.
'This is primitive and sophisticated all at the same time' an insightful comment on my Instagram account.

My Work
Contemporary artist, painter, potter and art teacher. Blurring the lines between art and craft.
When I'm not printing onto porcelain, clay or canvas or teaching art and ceramic classes, you'll find me out at museums with my sketchbook. I am inspired by music, cultural patterns and art history stories. My work is inspired by observing nature, people, art history and patterns, recording these observations and using them as starting off points for paintings and ceramics. I teach from my home studio in Finchley Central and on Zoom, to adults, teens and children.
London Potters Newsletter Editor.
PGCE and MA in Art and Design Education, UCL. BA in Fine Art and History of Art and a Diploma in Art and Design, from The Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam.
