Esther Serrano

About Esther

Painter and photographer brought up in Madrid, working in health care. My development as an artist started when I completed a City Lit foundation Art course, and Prof. David Cranswick introduced me to the “old masters’ painting techniques”.

My Work

I enjoy the challenge of copying paintings from the National Gallery in London, as well as painting portraits. I work with raw pigments, with layers and glazes.

I only become passionate about photography in 2015. I am fond of black & white and infrared photography. My images are mainly inspired by light, landscape, nature, wildlife, architecture, patterns and textures. In 2020, I started experimenting with multiple exposures in camera’ and Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), creating impressionistic and abstract images with a lot of textures and colours.

Awards:         Royal Photographic Society Distinction, LRPS, 2023
