About me: Ximena Heasman is a Colombian designer. She has a degree in Product Design from The National University of Colombia in Bogota where she first experienced and engaged with ceramics. Interested in nature and the way in which people relate to it and one another, Ximena moved to Tabio, a small rural town, where she established her 'Espiral Cero' studio. There she joined the local Art and Craft community and engaged with and developed different group projects, including a ceramic signage for the town and community projects with children and mothers. In 2004 Ximena moved to London to concentrate on creating ceramics and jewellery.
About my work: Her style has strong influences from her cultural roots and her theme is mankind and the joy and beauty of the relationships between people and with nature. Also the importance of symbols, rituals and festivities. Ximena makes functional stoneware pieces as well as art work using stoneware and Raku techniques. In jewellery, Ximena works with silver and gemstones and she also has a particular interest in combining jewellery with her clay work.
Exhibitions: Ximena is a member of East Finchley Open, London Potters and Friends of Holland Park. They organise different exhibitions during the year. She also takes part of different Art and Craft Fairs in North London as Lauderdale House and Burgh House. For more information about where to find her work please visit her website.
