Sheila Seepersaud-Jones - Sculptor & Potter
2nd June 1941 – 24th October 2013
Sheila was a founder member of the EFO and will be missed.
About Sheila: Guyanese/Caribbean born artist trained at St Martin's School of Art in London, rejected the then prevalent heavy metal school and searched for an alternative material. Sheila found clay to possess the very qualities of plasticity she wanted.
About Sheila's work: Benefiting from a sculptor's training in three dimensional construction, many of the larger pieces are assembled from a series of units. Translucent washes of vibrant colour are applied in layers on bowls and dishes to create lush, shimmering compositions.
