No Space Needed online exhibition

#

Fifteen artists from the East Finchley Open have recently collaborated to make new digital images, which they're showing online.

We sent out the fifteen artists with identical disposable cameras ... scanned their films and swapped these randomly between the artists ... who reworked the material and created the online show from what was made.

Take a look for yourself, before the show is "taken down" on July 15th. You can comment by going to: nospaceneeded.weebly.com (once there, click on an image and leave notes on the digital visitor's book).

Small is Beautiful

# Members of the EFO were asked to produce an artwork that fitted into a given frame size. They could work 3D or 2D but any works should not protrude out of the frame footprint. The artists were asked to use their imagination to produce something taking them out of their usual comfort zone. For example one artist who usually works on a vast scale made very small images - an uncomfortable but rewarding task. Potters had to adapt their usual 3D ceramics to sit easily within the frames borders.# A basket weaver translated her craft into a 2D woven piece.

Each artist produced one or two small jewels which were hung with 53 others on the walls of the Artsdepot in North Finchley All works were for sale and prices ranged from £25 - £100.

Lights Up

## 'Lights Up' is the theme of an exhibition of paintings, prints and photography at the Phoenix Cinema by local artists belonging to the EFO. The EFO is contributing towards the cost of new low-energy spot lighting for the gallery space at the Phoenix which should be in place in time for the new show. Each artist has interpreted the exhibition theme in their own way, so visitors can expect to see a variety of original approaches.
