About me: Jenny Rymer was born in Liverpool and grew up in North Wales by the coast : the surrounding landscape and seashore were later to have a fundamental influence on her work. She studied painting at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, and ceramics at Liverpool college of Art. She currently teaches painting and drawing at the Institute, at Finchley.
About my work: Her work is mostly hand built and inspired by her strong affinity with nature. Forms are based on flowers, birds, fish and other sea-related shapes, developed from rolled and pinched slabs, arriving at fine undulating rims or more enclosed still shell forms.
She has always experimented using different techniques, with a continuing interest in large decorative wall plates, the decoration inspired by the movement and rhythms in Chinese and Islamic Art.
