About me: After studying Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art in the influential sixties, Elvina achieved post-graduate status (MA equivalent) as well as receiving her teaching diploma from London University, and was later awarded an S.I.A.D for her design work. Since the early seventies, Elvina has taught drawing and painting to all levels at Westminster Kingsway College until retiring three years ago.
About my work: Born and bred in London, Elvina has used the capital's inspiration in much of her artwork which has ranged from screen-printing, ceramics, design, colour use, etching to drawing and painting. It is her love of drawing and painting, particularly in watercolours that has motivated taking texture and tonal contrast to her etching too. This brings a traditional structure, yet fluidity to her etchings which have been exhibited in the Mall Galleries.
Exhibitions: Elvina has exhibited in a number of London exhibitions, including the Crouch End Art Gallery, Foutes-Fowler Gallery and Lauderdale house. Since retiring from teaching, Elvina's paintings and etchings have been inspired by the landscapes seen on walks and hikes across England and in the Pyrenees.
