Jane Townsend
Jane originally trained as a designer jeweller gaining her B.A. (Hons) degree in 3-D design from the Central School of Art and Design. In this phase of her creative career she exhibited nationally and internationally, particularly with the Designer Jewellers Group, combining this with part-time lecturing on Art and Design Foundation Courses.
She later gained a P.G.C.E. (Art and Design) from London University and used this to work in the charity sector, moving into a multi-arts approach to working with adults with profound and complex learning needs.
During this time she undertook counselling and psychotherapy courses and became interested in the overlap between arts/therapy/education. This led to research work with Cambridge University documenting best practice for people with PCLD.
More recently Jane has returned to her artistic roots with a fresh approach; exploring and experimenting with painting, particularly in watercolour. She is inspired by the natural world and gardens, and has started putting paintings to poems she has written. A theme of 'patterns' is beginning to emerge in her work. Her work is also influenced by Jungian psychology and her spiritual journey.
