Cherrell Avery is a professional freelance calligrapher and lettering artist. She holds a BA hons in the subject, is a graduate of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators advanced training scheme, an elected Associate of The Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society and President of The North London Lettering Association.

Cherrell works to commission and welcomes enquiries for lettering on celebration stationary, certificates, inscribing poems, logos, designs for print and commemorative pieces. Major clients include Marks & Spencer, Selfridges and Middlesex University.

She enjoys experimenting with letter forms, colour and paper surfaces in order to interpret and communicate the written word in a visually expressive way. Her work is regularly on show to the public. Recent exhibitions include "Living Letters" 2 (touring UK `05), "Letter and Leaf", Dublin Print Museum and "Pure Gold", Oxford , Spring`06 .

Cherrell is an accredited calligraphy tutor for The Institute, in East Finchley and a handwriting specialist for children. She leads lettering workshops around the UK and demonstrates her art at London museums.
