About me: I orginally studied French at university. Whilst subsequently working in publishing, I began to develop a strong interest in pottery at adult education classes. I was fortunate to have trained for 2 years in various workshops in France and then to study further on the Harrow Studio Pottery Higher Diploma. I have had my own studio since 1980. I am the author of two books: Tin-Glazed Earthenware and Maiolica, both published by A & C Black.
About my work: I make hand thrown and painted tin-glazed earthenware. This technique is sometimes referred to as maiolica, delftware or faience. It is a technique which dates back to 9th century Iraq and has a fascinating history, spreading right through from the Middle East to Europe. My forms are created with decoration in mind, combining an awareness of historical precedents with my passion for plants. I make a wide range of domestic pieces, sometimes colourful, but at the moment mostly monochrome.
Exhibitions: Numerous - for details please refer to my website
