Ann Froomberg - silks/fused glass
Tel: 07932 477179
About me: I graduated in 1978 with a degree in printed textile design from Middlesex Polytechnic (previously Hornsey Art School). I subsequently established my design studio and have been designing commercially on a freelance basis ever since, creating original hand-painted artwork for various surface pattern, printed fashion fabrics, printed/woven furnishing fabrics, giftwrap and packaging. Joining the EFO has encouraged me to rediscover my original skills to hand paint silks.
About my work: Aside from my commercial designwork I also create watercolour and acrylic paintings which I consider "wall decorations", directly influenced by my love of textile design and passion for colour. I hand paint silks, a luxury for me to celebrate vibrant silk dyes without worrying about the constraints of commercial printing ... I can enjoy the simple freedom of painting and exploring the dyes on this most sumptuous of fabrics.
Recently I have ventured into the world of jewellery, creating unusual earrings from silk, threads and beads.
Thanks to the generosity of fellow EFO member Pat Marvell, I have started experimenting with fused glass, making earrings and cuff links.
I am also a member of N12 Artists
I will be exhibiting at 27 Holly Park, N3 3JB as part of the EFO Open House exhibitions 2017
Some of my silks and fused glass earrings can be found for sale in my online shop on the "Folksy" site.
